Hand-crafting jewellery entirely from scratch is our specialty.
In this post, we feature our techniques for making a pavé set, diamond eternity ring in 18ct white gold. This particular ring is designed to nestle against our client's crossover trilogy ring.
We begin by envisaging the finished piece of jewellery, selecting the best metal and stone combinations for the perfect result.
Once the ideal precious metal is chosen, it is rolled through our mill to produce the desired profile and length. We then anneal and shape the metal using a selection of specialist tools, including parallel pliers, swage block and mandrel.
Once we have achieved the perfect shape, the ring metal is cut through and the ends permanently fused by laser, creating a seamless band.
With a steady hand and powerful magnification through our Leica microscope, we use precision drills, pneumatic carbide gravers and cutting burrs to remove metal and form secure settings for the diamonds. We work, by hand, to a tolerance of one hundredth of one millimetre to ensure a flawless finish.
Fine diamonds are chosen from our extensive inventory and individually aligned within the settings. A grain tool is then used to bead the gold over the diamonds, holding the gems securely in place.
We polish the set ring with ultra-fine carbide papers & polishing mops, clean in the ultrasonic bath and plate to a mirror finish with high purity rhodium. The final stage is visual inspection and quality control with Zeiss optics at 20x magnification.
The entire creation takes place within our on-site jewellery studio.
